I Spy

I spy a little lie in your feelings,

Shady as you are in your dealings.

I watch closely, absorb & observe,

Every little detail and think “What nerve!”

Yet I see myself giving you the benefit of the doubt,

And find myself, move on from this short-lived bout.

It is only when things fall apart & I am aghast,

That I sink deep into our past,

In retrospect,

Deeply re-inspect,

How I gaslighted myself in my head,

In thinking and dismissing all that you did & said,

By letting it go.

The reason for my woe,

It is you, I thought,

But apparently, it is not!

It is me,

It always has been!

Never let any shit go,

Always say “no”

To all that is shady, flaky & ambiguous,

Everything but honesty is superfluous.
